Perennial Flax

Climate change and unconscious agricultural practices have created the need for a shift from annual agriculture towards sustainable perennial crops such as Silflower and Flax, which can help with this transition. Perennial crops allow multiple harvests without re-sowing, reduce soil erosion, improve soil characteristics such as water infiltration, and reduce nutrient and water input needs by exploring deeper soil reserves. Although most commercial grain and oilseed field crops are annual, perennial crops are being developed as more sustainable alternatives. We are proud to work to de novo domesticate both Silflower and Flax.
